Jesus Wept:Lessons From the Times Jesus Weptنموونە
John 11:35
Jesus Wept.
Jesus wept, not because He was helpless. He knew what He would do. Jesus wept to show us what it means to mourn with those who mourn (Romans 12:15). His tears remind us that He is acquainted with our pain and grief (Isaiah 53:3).
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NLT) says:
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
Jesus wept after seeing Mary’s sorrow for the loss of her brother. He carried the weight of her sorrow. Jesus did the same for us on the cross. He bore the weight of our sin, shame, and grief.
You may be mourning the death of a loved one, a child, or a broken relationship. I pray that John 11:35 serves as a reminder that God cares and His only desire in this moment is to bring you comfort.
You may be feeling the overwhelming weight of shame for your secret sin or past misdeeds. I pray that John 11:35 would be a reminder that God knows your struggles and He is not ashamed of you. Jesus took your sin and shame upon Him. Stop striving for change with your human strength. Receive God’s comfort by surrendering all to Jesus.
John 11:35 serves as a reminder that we need to carry one another’s burden.
Galatians 6:2 (NIV) says:
Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Jesus modeled what it means to mourn with those who mourn. He carried Mary’s burden. We can do what Jesus did by mourning with others, bearing their pain, and carrying it to God in prayer. Instead of dismissing our neighbors’ pain, we must learn to enter their world and grieve with them. We must practice being God-conscious and being present with others instead of being self-absorbed.
Today God is calling you to begin a selfless Christian life. Bear someone's burden today.
