My Father Can Be Your Father!نموونە
FATHERLESS ONLY FOR A SEASON
My first and not last encounter with death was different because I had lost the image God ordained as my earthly father. I barely ate anything for an entire week, my grief was so heavy. Graduation came and went, and I could have cared less. The one person I wanted to see as I walked across that stage wasn’t there. I vaguely remember a couple of relatives coming to the house but there was no celebration.
Part of me was angry, part of me felt lost without hope and all I knew was I was fatherless.
I hung on to that old, tattered note with the scripture for years. It was as if it was the last message my dad could leave me. I had a hard time tucking it in the hand of a friend whose young son died in a house fire, hoping that somehow those words that I clung to would comfort my friend.
“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior." Isaiah 43:1b-3
My earthly daddy has been in the presence of God for 58 years, yet I can still hear his voice and remember his teachings, remember his example, and remember the wisdom he instilled with me for my lifetime. I made a lot of terrible mistakes and sinned many a time during the years since, yet his example to lean on a father, made me realize that as much as I love him, he wasn’t the one he wanted me to lean on.
I chose decades ago to lean heavily on the One I could know would always be with me in every moment of life. On the One who understands and has the power to heal a broken heart. To trust in a Father who loves me unconditionally.
My Father can be your Father and He would welcome you to be His son or daughter! There is no reason for anyone in this world to say, they do not have a Father.
CAN YOU RELATE?
I don’t know where you are in your walk through this life and I don’t know who has guided you to this point, but if you do not know the Father who prepared your eternity, I encourage you to lean heavily, because every day is Father’s Day!
TIME TO REFLECT:
1. If you know the Lord as your Father and Savior, renew that commitment and thank Him for all He continues to do.
2. If you are floundering through life and blaming life because you didn’t have an earthly dad, or your dad was not close to you, I encourage you to meet a Father that will never disappoint and who will be your source of refuge.

About this Plan
June is a month we celebrate our earthly fathers. Not all readers even want to consider such a celebration, because some homes were absent of a father image and others had horrible experiences, but whether you read this plan in June or any month of the year, I want you to know that my Father can be your Father! There is no reason for anyone not to feel unconditional love.
