Poured Out: Songs of Prayer and Praiseنموونە
Today marks the beginning of reading Book 4 of Psalms (Psalms 90–106). These psalms shift our focus in a major way. The time period is when there was no king: the time of Moses (Psalm 90). Book 4 attempts to respond to the despair we were left with at the end of Book 3. It portrays God as the great King (Psalms 93–99) and moves people away from looking for refuge in an earthly king—David or otherwise.
Before you read Scripture today, we invite you to pray this prayer: God, open my eyes to see You; open my heart to praise You; and open my mind to know You.
See the video below to be reminded of the shape and theme of the book of Psalms.
