Accountability
Success is all that matters, people say. Some go to any extent to succeed. They take credit for success and blame others for failure. Often, they misrepresent, twist or hide the facts to succeed or escape from the consequences of failure. In essence, they either overstate their contribution or undermine someone else’s.
In football, only one team wins and takes the trophy. The winning goal might even be a self-goal by the losing team. How does the captain of the winning team respond? Will he appreciate the opponent and their worthiness or will he take full credit for the win? Will the captain of the losing team ridicule the winning team or play down their own mistake? We expect him to commend the boys who worked hard to reach the finals and praise them for the tough fight they put up. If he does this, he wins the hearts of the people, though not the trophy.
Abraham’s servant quickly planned and prepared for the journey with gifts and took along people and animals needed for the journey. He sought guidance from the Lord, for he knew that direction and success can come only from the Lord. At the bride’s house, even before eating, he stated the purpose of his journey. He meant business and was transparent about how the Lord guided him in identifying Rebecca as the bride for his master’s son. And after getting the consent of the bride’s family, he started off early the next morning, being accountable for his time. When he returned, he gave a complete report to Isaac, acknowledging the help he had received from the Lord.
We are to be transparent about our intents, actions, and in reporting about the progress and take responsibility for the outcome of each step of the mission. It is essential to be transparent about the rationale behind each action. It is important to be transparent about who contributed well and who did not to the success or failure, and not be blind or partial while doing so.
Can your boss and colleagues say that you are a person of integrity, that you are accountable to what is entrusted to you?
Lord, help me to be a person of integrity, accountable for what is assigned to me, and transparent in all my dealings. Amen

About this Plan
It is essential that we fulfill the responsibility for which we were called by God and hired by our company. What is the Vision/Purpose of your life from God’s point of view and how have you been fulfilling it? Who other than God can guide us in His will and purpose?
