Christian Discipleship 101نموونە
Uncommon love!
Jesus knew the love between His disciples would differ from any love the world had ever experienced. Because the world’s concept of love is generally limited to mutual benefit, satisfaction and pleasure, disciples of our Lord are challenged to love differently. Jesus’ disciples are to share an uncommon love, known as agape love. This love extends beyond feelings and circumstances. Its focus is on purpose and will. This is the love the Father had for His Son Jesus and it is the same love disciples are to share with each other.
Agape love gives a living example of loyalty, forbearance, forgiveness and humility. When non-believers witness a person loving another like this, it prompts them to ask some intriguing questions of themselves: Why does my love vanish when I feel betrayed? Why can’t I find it in my heart to forgive when I’ve been wronged? How can disciples of Christ love like this? The answer of course is: Jesus. The disciple’s uncommon love automatically connects them to the character of Christ. When the disciple displays this love, and it is witnessed by others, suddenly there’s an opportunity for evangelism!
Ask yourself, “How does my love differ from the world’s?” Won’t you be a true disciple of Christ by extending this uncommon love in the face of uncommon evil.
