A 7-Day Truth Talkنموونە
Somewhere along the way, I wrote down these words on the inside flap of my Bible: “This book is the owner’s manual of my life.” I don’t know who originally said it, but it was said by someone who knew the value of God’s Word in the day-to-day grind of doing life. I have realized we can live life swallowed up by our baggage, or we can choose real life and live with richness, fullness, and fruitfulness. We can take God’s Word and make it the owner’s manual for our lives.
When we bought our car in the USA, it came with an owner’s manual we could read. The car salesman didn’t write it; the lady taking our money didn’t write it; and we certainly didn’t write it. The people who designed and built the car wrote the manual. They were the only ones who knew enough about how the car worked to compose it. We could try to take our manual for our Toyota and use it for our Chevy, but it wouldn’t help in operating a Chevy. The manual which works best is the one meant for the specific car.
In the same way, we attempt to use a multitude of manuals for life. But there is only one manual we can trust explicitly, and that is God’s Word. God created us, and He is the One who knows how to do life. An owner’s manual is a powerful tool when it is used. It saves so much time, speculation, and heartache. Using God’s Word as our owner’s manual is a powerful tool for the believer.
There are many folks who know the Bible, but who don’t really know the Lord. They can answer the questions and win at a game of Bibleopoly, but they haven’t heard a personal word from the God Who loves them; they haven’t been transformed. Can you imagine how things could change if we would invite Him to change us and give Him access to work in our thought life and our daily reality?
God desires to intervene. Meet with Him daily; get to know Him face-to-face; and see how God can use you. You will never be able to speak truth to yourself or anyone else if you don’t know what the truth is.
