Dare To Beنموونە
For all his life, David had been unseen and overlooked as he watched sheep. Yet he was about to have a once upon a time moment of his own when God brought David down to the front lines of the battle.
Now Jesse said to his son David, “Take this ephah of roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread for your brothers and hurry to their camp. Take along these ten cheeses to the commander of their unit. See how your brothers are and bring back some assurance from them” (1 Samuel 17:17 18).
Let’s appreciate how God began the most epic adventure of David’s life. It all started with bread and cheese! David had to be willing to run an errand if he wanted to discover the next part of his story, which we know waited in the form of a challenger named Goliath.
How often do we want the Goliath defeating moment but not the unseen, thankless task that precedes victory? We don’t want to be the bread and cheese person, and yet it was only through that obedience in serving his brothers that David ended up in the place where everybody wanted to be. The test of daring to be isn’t just in being faithful when you are asked to run an errand, just as much as it is being courageous when you need to face a giant.
God knows exactly what we need, even if we don’t know how to ask for these things. We can go on with our day-to-day, not expecting God to do any more than the familiar, not believing for increase because we have settled for what we have. In this way, we can exclude ourselves from the story God has for us, feeling we are insignificant. Why, we ask, would the God of all space and time notice and be bothered with me?
This is the personal side of our God. He is relational with us, and the amazing thing is, we all have His DNA. We are His children, and He chooses to accomplish His purposes through us. Dare to believe He wants to use someone just like you. He sees and He knows, so use the lyrics from this song to focus your devotional time.
Let your heart say back to God, the author, and finisher of all our stories, I’m Yours to be used.
