The big picture
When we want our GPS to guide us to a location, first it shows us an image of the whole trip. In a similar fashion we will take a look at an overview of where we are going.
When Jesus died for our sins upon the cross, and rose again, He initiated what is called the ‘Age of Grace,’ or the ‘Church Age,’ which is where we are right now. It is during this time that the window is open for people from all nations to hopefully come to Christ.
The end of this age will come when Jesus calls believers to meet Him in the air to be with Him in heaven; this event has been called ‘the Rapture.’ Jesus said that if two people are together, one will be taken and the other will be left. If you are not yet a believer in Christ, this is your chance to give your life to Him, so that in that moment you can also leave with all of us to be with Him.
After the church exits the stage, a seven-year period will follow. It is known as ‘the Tribulation,’ when there will be the biggest persecution ever seen, a lot of pain and devastation. Jesus said that if those days were not shortened, no one would survive. But this is not yet the end.
After these seven years of pain and devastation, Jesus will return to earth riding a white horse. He will not come to take sides in the great battle; He will simply take over. The Bible says He will come back on the clouds of heaven with power and glory. He will be announced by His angels with a loud trumpet, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.
With Christ’s returning, the Millennium will begin, which is the 1,000-year reign of Christ over the earth. At the end of the Millenium, after winning the final battle against the devil and his followers, the books will be opened for the Final Judgement in which all of God’s enemies, including the devil, hell, and death will be sent into a lake of fire for eternity.
Then, God will bring new heavens and a new earth, where we will live with Him forever.
