The Way: A 3-Day Devotional With Crosscut Collective

DAY 2 OF 3

This world is broken and divided in more ways than one. There is tension and dissension between countries and governments. There is disunity among the church. There is animosity and strife between individuals and family members. We live in a fallen world, and therefore we experience the pain and burden of sin.

Yet, as believers, we can know with certainty that there is a greater hope in store for us. A hope that transcends and supersedes any earthly difficulty or conflict. In the midst of challenges and trials, and also during the good times, we have the joy of being able to say, “God, you are my God!” This is more than an acceptance of the reality that God exists or that He is someone else’s God. It is a statement that He is our God and that our God has shown us unending love, has set us free, and is all we will ever truly need. And our response should simply be, “Hallelujah...my heart is yours for eternity!”

Repeatedly, we are told throughout Scripture that God is worthy; He is holy, righteous, and blameless. Deuteronomy 10:17 tells us, “For the Lord your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God…” He is King over all of it because He created it. Nehemiah 9:6 says, “You are the Lord, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you.” That is why we sing:

 All creation sings your praise

Mountains bow down at Your name

The heavens roaring as we say

You’re worthy, worthy

The oceans cry out from the deep

To the One who set me free

So I will lift my hands and sing

You’re worthy, worthy

As we worship the God of gods and the Lord of lords, our response should simply be, “Hallelujah...we sing you’re worthy!”

Over and over again, God has shown His unending love for us — and not just through Scripture and what he did for us, but that He continues to show His love for us even in the small moments in our lives. Romans 5:8 reminds us that “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” We have been set free because of God’s love for us! We were not deserving of His grace, yet God sent His son to die for us so that we could spend eternity with Him! And our response should simply be, “Hallelujah...I give you praise for all the things you’ve done!”

God has given us the opportunity to be reborn: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). We have been given new life and incomparable freedom through Christ. And our response should simply be, “Hallelujah...I lift my hands and sing to the One who set me free!”

Despite the turmoil surrounding us and the chaos of our broken world, let us worship God today for all the things He has done and is continuing to do — both in and through us. Proclaim today with victory that “God, you are my God,” and remember that “neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).
