Luke: A 10-Day Devotional Reading Planنموونە
Journey with Jesus
How wonderful it would be if we could take our time studying every verse of Luke’s Gospel, but with twenty-four chapters to cover in ten weeks, we simply can’t. That’s why we’re covering a huge portion of the Gospel today. Even so, it’s a unified portion because we walk with Jesus from the beginning of his journey to Jerusalem almost all the way to the gates of the city. His journey begins with determination: “When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem” (9:51). In other words, it’s the beginning of the end of Jesus’s life on earth. When it is finished, Jesus will be taken back up to heaven. From the moment he begins this journey until he arrives in Jerusalem, we travel with him and see what his followers saw and what they learned along the way.
Reflection:
Review the incident that took place in the home of Mary and Martha (10:38–42). Where do you see yourself in the story—are you more naturally like Mary or Martha? What practical application can you get from this incident and apply personally?
About this Plan
Over the course of 10-days, read the book of Luke alongside passages and questions from Lydia Brownback, and see how the Gospel of Luke presents Jesus as the promised King of kings, showcasing how Jesus’s earthly ministry is good news to the downtrodden, the hurting, and the outsider.
