The Other Three Sixteens: Finding God's Love in Scripture

DAY 3 OF 5

2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV) - “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness…”

The very Scripture we hold in our hands is a tangible gift of God’s love! Through the Words breathed by God Himself, He teaches and equips us. Perpetual treasures are continually revealed through God’s Word without limit. He shares His truth with us because He loves us.

Yet, we remain sinful people, needing righteousness. Scripture is useful for rebuking and correcting, and a rebuke in the name of Jesus is an act of love. To allow a fellow believer to remain in sin would be callous and unloving. A loving rebuke is a hand up, pulling us out of darkness and pointing the way to God’s light. But, it isn’t enough to point out sin and walk away, so God’s Word continues by correcting and training in righteousness. In love, God shows us the right way, the path that leads away from the destructive pit of sin. We are less likely to fall again if we are walking far from danger. This is how God’s love protects us as He equips us for the good works He has prepared for us.

We hold a piece of God’s love when we firmly grasp the Scriptures written in the Bible. Much of our spiritual lives is unseen and wrapped up in faith and hope, but God gives us tangible pieces of His love so that we will live securely in Him.
