QUIET
“The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”
- Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV
This scripture is full of potent truths which are applicable today and into the future. Over the last few days, we have looked at how God longs to lavish His love upon us and draw us close to His heart. Today we are looking at some other truths which represent His heart too, from the scripture above. We could focus on many things, but I want us to look at the phrase “He will quiet you with His love.”
No matter what you have said or done, forgiveness is the key to moving forwards in life. However, for many, the ability to forgive either themselves or someone else is the thing that limits, restricts and ultimately prevents progress. When we choose to forgive, God chooses to forget. He wipes the slate clean and decides to remember our sins no more.
The Lord, the Mighty One, desires to quiet you in his love, but is there something hindering you from receiving this love? Does the enemy accuse you of past mistakes or sin over and over again? The Bible says that if you have confessed your sin and asked for forgiveness, then you are forgiven. The accuser may seek to accuse and remind you of your past, but your Heavenly Father chooses to place a blanket of His quiet love around you and makes no mention of your past sins or mistakes. This blanket of love covers and protects; it provides safety and security from the accusations of your past. The phrase “He will quiet you in His love” can also mean ‘He will renew and calm all your fears.’
Allow His affirmation of truth to silence every fear. If you stop and listen, you will hear Him “rejoice over you with singing.” Today, rest in the knowledge that He loves you and truly desires the best for you!
Pray with me:
Father,
Thank you that your love has the ability to calm and quiet me. Thank you that you know me and hold no offence or sin against me. I pour out my gratitude to you today and am honoured that you call me son or daughter.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
