Deeply Rooted In God
Jeremiah 17:7
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him.
Jeremiah shows us that there are always two ways in handling a situation, especially the bad ones. It is either by trusting in our own strength and ability OR by trusting God.
Jeremiah describes that people who put their trust in God are like trees planted by the water. These trees are not disturbed by heatwaves or drought because they are deeply rooted in the river. God is the river of life and the trees planted by the river are God’s faithful people who are rooted in God’s eternal life.
On the contrary, people who trust in their own strength are like bushes that live in the desert. They have no hope for survival in the long term as their roots are not deep enough.
In summary, people who trust God are happy people in every situation because they have God’s eternal hope and strength. People who trust in their own strength have limited survival kits to survive thus they easily give up when they run out of strength.
Prayer
Dear God, let me be deeply rooted in Your words so that no matter how hard the situation I am going to face, I will remain strong in You. Amen.
