Get Over It!: Break Free From the Stuck Cycleنموونە
Day 5: Reading Rainbows
There is something so wondrous about seeing a rainbow in the sky after a rainstorm just as the sun starts to peek out. Rainbows make us stop and look; they make us smile. We take pictures and post them. We point at them and show others to make sure they don’t miss the special sighting. If you have ever seen a double rainbow, it feels like you just won the lottery! Did you know that rainbows can be in the sky but are not visible? Or that rainbows can be present at night and lit by the moonlight?
We know when we see a rainbow, but seeing a rainbow and reading one are two different things.
The rain is a necessary part of the rainbow – they go together. We can get stuck waiting for the rain to stop, or asking why it is raining in the first place. We wait for the rain to stop so we can see the rainbow. But rainbows happen because of the rain, they happen during the rain.
We read a rainbow when we see life’s storms as lessons and experiences that we have the power to get past. Rainbows represent the promises of God. His promises are everywhere and it is our job to read them even when they don’t seem to be there. We can choose to see the promises of God in the middle of the storms we face and learn to get over to the other side of life in the freedom Christ came to give us.
PRAYER:
Thank you, Lord, for your promises. You gave Noah a rainbow to represent your promises - your faithfulness - thank you that your promises are true and that I can trust you! Thank you for giving me the ability to read your rainbows and choose to rejoice as you lead me to live in Your freedom.
