Love God Greatly: In the Beginningنموونە
On the second day, God created the sky. Sky can seem like a strange thing to create, as to us, it appears as empty space. God had great intentionality when He created the sky, using it as a way to separate water from water. God separated the water into what we now call “sea” and “atmosphere.”
The sky is much more than empty space. God’s power and creativity are displayed there each and every day. The sky is the place where darkness and light live. Each morning and each evening God creates sunrises and sunsets that are perfectly unique not only to each day, but to each location on earth. Oh the wonder of God’s imagination!
The sky is also home to snow, hail, lightning, wind, rain, and thunder. When God questioned Job He showed more of His intent and purpose for each of these elements of nature. Snow and hail are reserved for times of battle. Lightning is directed in specific places. Rain is sent to water a parched wilderness.
God had a plan when He created the sky. He created the elements of wind and rain and weather for distinct purposes. And He sustains each one by His hand. He is behind the weather, behind the movement of storms and the changing of seasons. No act of nature occurs outside of His approval.
If God can be trusted to create and sustain the sky and the weather, with all its details and intricacies, how much more can He be trusted to sustain us in our moment of need? We can trust His character in any circumstance, crisis, or moment of victory. If He has a plan for the rain, He certainly has a plan for you and me.
Prayer:
Father God, You are mighty and powerful. I am in awe of the way You sustain and create. You have a plan for everything in creation, even each drop of rain. Help me trust You with my life and the things that overwhelm me. Help me surrender these things to You. Amen.
