Faithfully Loyal
The dictionary defines faithfulness as the concept of unfailingly remaining loyal to someone or something and putting that loyalty into consistent practice regardless of extenuating circumstances.
This is what it means to trust the Lord with all our heart.
Sometimes, life may not look like how we thought it would. The year 2020 was a big shock for us all. Our plans, goals, and ambitions may have gone “off track”.
The news, our circumstances, what we see around us, and what people say about us are all things that add to our understanding of what we think we know and the things we put our faith in. However, in our passage here from Proverbs, a very wise and wealthy king tells us to put aside our understanding and trust the Lord.
When we trust the Lord, we will be able to submit our plans to him. You won’t submit to someone you don’t trust.
A very common trust-building exercise used by many schools and companies in the ‘Trust Fall’ exercise. You may have done this, it’s the exercise where one person stands up straight, closes their eyes, and falls back- relying on the others to catch them before they hit the ground.
It is usually the last exercise conducted as part of a team trust-building workshop and there is a reason for this; no one would be ready or willing to risk an injury that could be dangerous, or even life-threatening unless they trust the other person.
The same is true in our walk with God. We will never submit our plans, our dreams, our hope to someone we don’t trust, yet alone, someone, we don’t know.
But here’s the deal- when we submit our plans to him, His promise is He will make our paths straight!
There is an old saying “the quickest path between two points is a straight line”. God wants us to get where we need to go in life. Whether that is building a godly marriage, raising godly kids, growing up spiritually, or obtaining what God has for us, the Lord wants to get us there. If we submit to Him and trust in Him, he promises to make our paths straight and He is faithful to His word.
The question is, are you faithful enough to trust him so that he can get you there?

About this Plan
Fruit Bowl is a 9-week deep dive into the Fruit of the Spirit put together by the Naujavan community. Jesus said, “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." Bearing the Fruit of the Spirit is the result of spending quality time with God, allowing Him to shape and form us.” We hope this devotional encourages you to do just that.
