I Amنموونە
Jesus performed many miracles while he was on earth, but one stands out among all of them. In John 11, one of Jesus’ best friends, Lazarus, died. When Jesus goes to visit his grieving family, they greet him with sorrow and ask why he didn’t come sooner. His sister even said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died!” Jesus responds by saying his fifth I Am statement: “I am the resurrection and the life.” Then, Jesus stops and mourns with Lazarus’ family, looks at the grave Lazarus is in and tells him to come out. And Lazarus comes walking out! What Jesus said was true: He is the resurrection and life. He was able to bring a dead man back to life again, but he also offers new spiritual life for those who believe in him. Making the choice to believe in Jesus is simple. We divide it into three easy steps. First, we admit that we have sinned. We’ve messed up and done things that are short of God’s perfect standard. Next, we just have to believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and then choose to trust him and accept the forgiveness from sins that he offers. Making that choice will not only change our life here on earth as we follow Jesus, but it changes our eternity too because we get to spend forever with him. For people who trust in Jesus, even though they die here on earth, they will be given new life in Heaven through Jesus. We have resurrection through the resurrection and life himself.
Challenge: Have you made the decision to trust Jesus with your life? What’s stopping you from receiving resurrection and life from Him? Ask yourself today: What am I going to do with the life that Jesus offers?
If you want to make the decision to believe in Jesus today, here is a quick sample prayer that might help to guide you: “Jesus, I admit I am a sinner. I believe you died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. Jesus, I trust you to forgive my sins and I choose your free gift of forgiveness. Thank you for loving me. Today I want to put my trust in you! Amen.”
