Practical Tips to Hear God's Voice

DAY 4 OF 7

Do you really know God?

There is a great divide between knowing about God and knowing God. We can know about Albert Einstein, but did you ever spend time with him, eat dinner with him and listen to his heart? You can attend classes and claim to know your teachers, but you only know one of their dimensions. What are they like at home? Do they snore at night, or do they have a bad temper? You may think you know the bosses you work with 40 hours a week, but do you know their struggles and fears?

Do you really know God?

Jesus knows we all struggle with knowing a God we do not see, so He comforts us with these words: “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father...” (John 14:9, NIV). Jesus also promises us this: “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13, NIV)

God wants to walk with you in the garden like He did with Adam. He wants to counsel you through difficult experiences. He wants to comfort you in times of grief and loss. God wants you to experience all of Him. He wants intimacy with you.

There’s an old song by American songwriter C. Austin Miles (1868-1946) called “In the Garden”. It never ceases to comfort me in tough seasons:

And He walks with me and He talks with me,

and He tells me I am His own;

and the joy we share as we tarry there,

None other has ever known.”

God wants to walk with you, talk with you and help you through COVID-19 and all the other trials you’re facing. I encourage you to seek Him with all your heart. Invite the Holy Spirit to fill you and empower you. He’s so real. You can know about God and His Spirit, or you can really know Him and experience Him.

You get to make this choice on a daily basis.

You’re a miracle.
