90 Days to Wholeness: A Porn Addiction Recovery Devotional for Womenنموونە
When we think of addiction recovery, I believe the thought of withdrawal is not far behind. But does sexual addiction really have withdrawal symptoms? Absolutely!
Some women report that they actually have physical changes like nausea or headaches, body pains, insomnia, panic attacks, grief and loneliness. And another common occurrence is vivid, sexual dreams (this is in connection to the neurochemical aspect of this addiction). Be prepared for these things so that they do not surprise you.
In our time together, we have read of two very different stories from the Bible on what it means to put our whole trust in God as a healer, comforter and provider.
We have the paralyzed man who was sitting by the healing pool for 38 years waiting for someone to help him into it. And we have the dad desperate for the healing of his demon-possessed son with no one able to help him. Both are men of small faith who, when finally given the opportunity for freedom, surrendered to the healing power of Christ.
Our disappointment with the people around us has lessened our view of God and that view needed to change. Coming to the understanding that we can’t heal ourselves. it is so much more than just our behaviors that need to change—it’s our hearts. Surrendering the pain in which our behaviors have been medicating. This is where it begins. By saying enough is enough.
In what ways have you felt like the paralyzed man or like the desperate dad in your pursuit of freedom? Which do you relate most closely to?
