Sexpections: God, Intimacy and Your Love Lifeنموونە
Day 7
“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11)
“Jesus Christ is Lord.” That became the rallying cry of the early followers of Jesus.
If you’re here it’s likely that you have taken Jesus as your Savior. And He is! Hallelujah!
But have you taken Him as your Lord? Have you made Him the Lord of every aspect of your life? Is He the Lord of your sex life?
Making Jesus Lord means you’re consecrating it all to Him. Whatever is at risk, whatever is troubled or disturbed, you turn it over to Him. Your reputation, education, time, money, sex life, health, job, vocation, marriage, relationships, parenting, influence, whatever it is.
When you specifically make Jesus Lord of a part of your life, it gives Him an increased measure of freedom to do what He desires for your good, and most of all for the good of His kingdom.
Get specific. Where is it that you might be struggling in your sex life right now? Your spouse not being sexually responsive? Make Him Lord of the intimacy between you and your spouse. Memories and shame from the past trying to rear their ugly heads? Make Him the Lord of your memories and your past. Sexual desires trying to pull you somewhere you know you shouldn’t go? Make Him the Lord, specifically of your sexual desires.
Again, this is not an arm’s length transaction. You’re allowing Jesus in. You’re inviting Him to mess with your business. From now on whatever you make Him Lord over belongs to Him, and you’re only the steward. He’s the Owner, and your responsibility is now to care for your body, mind, relationships, and specifically your sex life as Jesus would.
In the days to come, remember to make Jesus Lord over whatever aspect of your life is troubled. Make Him Lord of your sex life on a daily basis. By daily consecrating your sexuality to your Heavenly Father as Jesus did when He was here, you too can experience the freedom, growth, and fully alive life He intends for you.
Dear Jesus, I once again consecrate my life to You completely. I make You the Lord of my life again for today. I specifically make You the Lord of my sex life. I consecrate my sexuality to You today. This specific part of me now belongs to You. I determine to leave it under Your control and to steward this part of my life knowing it actually belongs to You. I determine that my body, my mind, and my soul will only be used in ways that honor You. Amen.

About this Plan
Culture says, “anything goes.” The church says, “Do this, don’t do that.” But sexuality and intimacy are not first about behaviors; they are primarily about matters of the heart. In this 7-day plan, Dr. Carol Tanksley shows how addressing these deeper matters of the heart will lead you to find freedom from shame, healing from wounds, and true intimacy as God intended.
