Working From Rest: A Prayer Journeyنموونە
Working from Rest: Elijah
Lord, please forgive me when I view a situation through the lens of my exhaustion and loneliness, instead of asking for your perspective.
Elijah’s emotional exhaustion is evident in his rehearsal of what has happened. Notice his distorted perception. He doesn’t mention that God dramatically answered his prayer on Mount Carmel; that the prophets of Baal were defeated; that the people declared en masse that they would follow the Lord; and that God sent rain in response to his prayer. It is only when he gets alone with God that he can hear the truth of his situation.
For reflection: Notice your internal narrative – how is it influencing your mood and energy?

About this Plan
Sabbath rest is essential to our identity as God’s people: a gift to refresh us and equip us for good work. But many of us find it hard to do. This prayer journey will help you explore the reasons for restlessness, God’s gift of rest, and how your work – in your job, your home, or your street – can flow from that place of rest and connection with Him.
