Real Hope: Jesus and the Parablesنموونە
THE HIDDEN TREASURE AND THE PEARL
We treasure things in our lives. Some have great monetary value, and some have no monetary value but have great value because of memory or experience.
How much do you value your relationship with God? Is it the greatest thing in your life? Is it the one thing that gives your life meaning, purpose, value, context, certainty?
Here are two short parables that tell what the kingdom of heaven is like. The kingdom of heaven here is the relationship with God, with Jesus. Each man sold everything he had to buy the field or buy the pearl. Most of us know how expensive property is to buy, as is fine jewelry. Yet here, each man sold everything he had to buy the item.
This is the same for the kingdom of God. It is so precious, so special, so wonderful, that the price is worth it. I know some people who have given up family, their countries, their homes, or their life plans to follow Jesus. They have paid a huge price to follow Jesus, yet it has been worth it. Every time, no matter the cost, the following of Jesus has been the goal—the number one thing.
What about us? We may not have given up a lot or may have given up everything to follow Jesus.
We can be reassured that our loving Lord knows the cost and will honor us in His Kingdom because God was chosen above all things.

About this Plan
In a broken world, where conflict, tension, and uncertainty seem to be evident at every corner, how are we as Christians to live a life that reflects Jesus? Jesus himself gives us lessons in the form of parables, and although the original audience lived over 2000 years ago, the lessons and stories are still as relevant to us today as they were back then.
