Becoming Like Himنموونە
God Loves You and There’s Nothing You Can Do About It
Every year, right after the Christmas trees come down, every store in America starts displaying hearts, candy, and bears. Everything in the stores turns red and pink for Valentine’s Day and people start looking forward to spending the day with the person (or people) they love.
One year in high school, my friend bought her boyfriend a huge bear for Valentine’s Day. When they broke up before February 14, I asked her what she was planning to do with the gift. She said she was going to return it because she didn’t love him anymore. Just days before, she was writing him love notes and spending all her time with him, but after they broke up, she didn’t even want to hear his name.
Thankfully, God doesn’t love us like that. He’s never loved you more or less than He does today. Nothing you can do will change how much He loves you. Nothing you don’t do will make Him love you any less. He loves you because He’s your Father and He created you. He loves you because it’s who He is. God knows everything about you. He knows all the good things and the bad things. He knew you’d make mistakes, but He loves you anyway. He knew you’d mess up, but He still chose to send His son Jesus to die on the cross just so He could have a relationship with you now and forever!
Once you realize just how much God loves you, your whole life changes. You don’t have to live in fear about messing up. God loves you and there’s nothing that can make Him stop loving you!
Pray: Thank you, God, for your love. Thank you for loving me, even when I don't love myself. Thank you for loving me enough to send your son to die for all my sins so I can have a relationship with you.
Do: Make a list of all the mistakes, disappointments, mix-ups and mess-ups you’ve experienced. Then write GOD’S LOVE in big letters across everything on your list. Keep your list somewhere close to help you remember that God’s love for you is the most powerful thing you will ever encounter and nothing can separate you from it.
