Flashlight Nightنموونە
God Is Close to Me All the Time
Even when it’s dark and dim,
And even when we cannot see,
I choose to place my trust in Him
I know God’s close to me.
Devotion
The psalmist in the Bible says that even darkness is light to God. That means that even when we can’t see the answer to our prayers, God does! When we trust God, we believe that He hears us and loves us. We believe that it’s ok for us not to know the answers because God knows what is best for us. And He sees everything bright as day!
Question
What have you learned this week about trusting God?
Prayer
God, you are so amazing! Even when I see darkness, You see light. Help me to trust You more and more every day. Amen.
Activity
With a grown-up or older brother or sister, write or draw on sticky notes five prayers that you want God to answer. Put the sticky notes up on a wall. Every night for the next week, turn out the lights and take turns shining a flashlight on each sticky note. If God answered that prayer, keep the light shining and thank Him for His answer! If God has not answered that prayer yet, turn the flashlight off and ask God again to hear your prayer. He is always listening, whether we can see how He is at work or not. And what God does while we wait is make us stronger!

About this Plan
As we encourage our children to take their concerns to God, we know they may be confused or discouraged when He doesn’t seem to answer. With excerpts from the book Flashlight Night, explore this dilemma from a kid’s perspective, helping your child see that, however things may appear, God hears and cares about every prayer.
