Key Events: Key Historical Events Of The Bibleنموونە
Judah
The results of Hezekiah’s pride are described in this chapter. When visitors from Babylon arrive, Hezekiah shows off all of his possessions. He gives none of the credit to God, and God lets him know that Judah will eventually be defeated by Babylon. Hezekiah’s response is not sorrow, but happiness because the disaster will not affect him, only his descendants.
A person who starts out well falls into the sin of pride. It’s a pattern that can be seen today too. We see leaders today who build great ministries and later become corrupted by their own success. It’s important for us to never lose sight of the God we serve and continue to give him the credit for what we accomplish.
