The Heart Attitudes: Part 3نموونە
Heart Attitude #2 – Live an honest, open life before others.
Ephesians 4:25
Since you put away lying, Speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, because we are members of one another.
Proverbs 12:23
A shrewd person conceals knowledge, but a foolish heart publicizes stupidity.
A person who is trying to live an open and honest life before others also must use discretion in what and when they share what they share about their life. We must avoid deception, but there is no requirement to talk about everything we know or do. Some things are meant to remain private and that is ok.
The Holy Spirit will help us discern when to say things that will help others and when to remain quiet if we will trust Him to guide us. While there are no hard and fast rules about what or when or how much to share, there are some tips that Harold Bullock shares about practicing living in the truth.
Is what I am sharing helpful, kind, fitting and appropriate, accurate, general to avoid gossip, and discreet? Does it look to the interests of the others involved?
We do not have to be transparent in every area of our life to be open. Some details of our struggles may need to be addressed only between the Father and myself, or between me and another person. To be open is, to be honest with who I am in Christ. I am a forgiven sinner who is still growing to become the person God wants me to be.
Commit yourself to become a person who lives an honest, open life before others. Those inside the church and especially those who are "outside" of it, will be blessed to know you if you do!
