Seven Types of Sabbath for Our Modern Culture!

DAY 4 OF 8

Abiding In Spiritual Rest

In Isaiah 40:31, it says, “but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.” What does this waiting on the Lord actually look like you ask? Let me tell you! In the footnotes of this Scripture, it speaks of coming and actually ceasing from your life and taking up the Lord's life as your own.

This is what true spiritual rest looks like - when we cease and He begins in our life. This is where we truly get revived and actually begin to live from His life and not our own. We can then soar above like an eagle. An eagle’s soaring is effortless and invigorating and they have a bird’s-eye view of the whole world below. Now that’s a reviving kind of rest. This exchange of your life for His also allows you to run and not grow weary and walk and not grow faint.

Being weary is no fun. We live our best life when we are invigorated and feel like we are fully alive and have the breeze blowing through our hair. Jesus came that we would have life and life more abundantly. We were meant to be full of life on an exponential level. Jesus came for us to have this kind of empowered, rested life through His very life.

Have you experienced the invigoration of an exchanged life before? In what areas of your life could you be waiting on the Lord like this?

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You that You came that we would have life and life more abundantly. You didn't come for me to have a mediocre life, but Your very life, alive in me! Thank You for reminding me to come to You when I get weary and to wait on You to receive Your strength from on high. Thank You that You made a way for me to live from Your life that never tires or gets weary. I rejoice in the life You have given me in You!
