Sus Support
We’ve learned so far that ‘imposters of the faith’ have: Hollowed Hearts, Masked Motives, Deceptive Data, and today, Sus Support. In case you are not familiar, the word ‘sus’ is short for ‘suspicious’, often used when texting or playing certain video games. You can have the right heart, right motives, and the right data, but if you have the wrong support, you can quickly turn away from God.
I want you to think about your five closest friends. Do you have them in your mind? If I were to guess, you and your five closest friends have a lot in common! Why? Because of their influence and their behavior have an effect on you. They are also most likely your biggest support. It may be a lot or a little, but the more you are around them, the more you become like them.
As you can imagine, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. That’s why it’s so important to stay away from any ‘sus support’ and get as much godly support around you that you can. They’re going to encourage you to be more faithful to God, to read the Scriptures, and they’re going to call you out when you’re living as an imposter of the faith.
Today, let’s consider who we’re around the most, and perhaps who we need to be around the most. Let’s pray:
Father in Heaven, please help us to have the right support around us. We know that you’ve given us each other as a gift in our local church. I pray that we can find the right mentors, the right support of friends and that even we will be the right support for others too. Thank you for giving us to each other. Help us to be more like you every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
