Forty Days Without Fearنموونە
OVERCOMING FEAR OF LACK
‘Everything is running out, there’s not enough for everyone! There’s only space for a handful of people to succeed. The only way to win is to hustle your way to the top and build your own empire.’ We’re told that these are the only ways to make it in this world.
The problem is, these mindsets create individuals and communities that are terrified of being generous because they believe blessings in this life are limited. A dog-eat-dog mentality leaves us believing there is no room to share our precious supplies. We must hoard everything for ourselves, because if we give what we have, we’ll be left short, or without.
Jesus promises the opposite, telling us that if we will give, more will be given back to us. This counter-cultural mentality is rooted in the fact that we should be quick to give whatever we have, because all things, be they money, time, or resources, were given to us in the first place from a generous God.
We are not mining in a cave of limit resources, God’s blessings are infinite, and don’t run out on us! If we actually believed that our financial opportunities, promotions, or even our next month’s rent was coming from an unlimited source, would we be so reluctant to give? Would we be so possessive? Would we be so fearful of blessing someone else with what we have? How much more willing would we be to give to our neighbour if we really trusted God to have our backs?
So today, no matter what our circumstances or our schedules tell us, or how our bank balances look, let’s think about how we can be more generous with what’s in our hands. We are plugged into the Ultimate Source, and God’s well never runs dry.
Action: Let’s ask God today if there’s anyone He wants us to bless with our time, skills or our money, and let’s act upon it remembering we are connected to a generous Father and an unlimited supply of blessings.
