On the Road With Jesus to Christmasنموونە
Finally, my dream has come true
I still remember quite well that as a boy I was so looking forward to my first running competition. I ran 15 km in my beloved city and got to the finish line. I loved it. My dream came true.
But it all went wrong the moment I crossed the finish line. No one was waiting for me. I was cold. I had no transportation back home. I didn’t bring any spare clothes with me. Eventually, I came home crying.
Zechariah also experienced something similar. After having had to wait all his life to serve in the temple, it finally happened. His tribe was chosen and he was allowed to perform the most important task. He must have been really grateful. Full of concentration and excitement, he performed his task. And then, suddenly, it changes completely. An angel appears. He gets a promise he cannot believe and he has to leave the people disappointed afterward because he couldn’t speak anymore.
In the end, Zechariah had accepted his reality and he could not believe in God's intervention anymore. He was at his dream place, near God, but he did not believe that God could make his deepest dream come true.
For his greatest dream was: a descendant. He will have prayed a lot for it, but he did not believe it would actually happen. He was old and sterile. His wife too. He often must have said that he believed that God could do everything, but at the very heart he no longer believed it himself.
Maybe you feel the same. Do you believe that God can do miracles? But do you believe God can perform a miracle for you?
Share your dream with God and believe that He listens and will answer in His way. Be prepared that it might turn out differently than you can imagine now.
