Go Tell It on the Mountain Three-Day Reading Plan by Zach Williamsنموونە
Day 1:
Go tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born
Remember the song we used to sing in church as kids called “This Little Light of Mine”?
This little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine
Hide it under a bushel? No!
I’m going to let it shine
I remember singing that song as a kid and thinking it would be easy to always let the ‘light’ shine, and I would shout about Jesus from the mountain tops all the time. But, as I got older, I became more nuanced, and it was uncomfortable to think of doing that all the time! When times were tough and I was pushing God away, I was most moved by people’s ACTIONS. I could see a light inside by the way people loved me, how they treated me, and oftentimes, it didn’t have anything to do with their words. They weren’t shouting about Jesus in my face, they were showing me Jesus through their hands and feet. What I learned about “This Little Light of Mine” is that it’s about BEING the light of Jesus, LIVING that out, and LOVING those around me.
What I love about Christmas is that it’s a time when shouting about Jesus is totally normal. So, let’s shout it from the mountains, write about it in Christmas cards, and sing carols about Him! But, when the holidays are over, let’s find a way to balance sharing the Good News with living it out. Let that be our prayer.

About this Plan
Christmas is coming. Join me as I prepare for this special holiday and reflect on the meaning of Christmas, what it really means to ‘go tell it on the mountain,’ how actions and words can work together, and how we can celebrate Jesus’ birth long after Christmas has come and gone. -Zach Williams
