What’s the Truth?

DAY 6 OF 8

True Words Can Be Yummy

When you disagree with someone, you might feel angry or uncomfortable inside. You might want to use yucky words—like calling names or telling someone they’re not very smart.

Don’t use those yucky words! Pray. Ask God to help you calm down and give you yummy words, instead. Yummy words are “full of grace” and “seasoned with salt.” That means they’re kind, patient, and loving. When you choose to listen respectfully and let your conversation be seasoned with salt, God can use your words to lead people to trust Jesus: the One who is always true.

Talk Together

  • Challenge: Who can say the Bible verse and do the motions the loudest?
  • Share some words that are yummy, full of grace, and seasoned with salt.
  • What do you think makes yucky words so bad?
  • What do you think makes yummy words so good?

Pray Together

God, please help us listen well and show respect and love to other people when we disagree with them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Read Together

Read the Bible verse for today. Take turns sharing what it makes you think about. Ask each other any questions it makes you think of.

Note: If you read the verse in translation that’s different from the one used in the video, talk about what is the same and what is different in each translation.
