The Ways of Jesusنموونە
Leave Your nets
Following Jesus has to start somewhere. It has to start with Jesus. Jesus was ready. It was time. Jesus was about to begin a three-year journey, telling the world how to return back to relationship with God the father. He spent 30 years preparing, and then asked 12 men to come and join him in his journey. What an incredible scene. Jesus, the rabbi nobody knew about.
Peter, Andrew, James, and John were all fishermen. Fishing was their job. Every day they would push their boat into the water, throw their nets overboard, pull them back in, unload the catch of fish, clean the fish, clean the nets, and then sell the fish. Clean, rinse, repeat. And then Jesus approached. “Hey guys. Do you want to turn your routine into an adventure?” They all drop their nets.
When you began to follow Jesus, what nets did you begin to drop? Was it a relationship, job, addiction, belief about yourself, or insecurity? When Jesus calls us to drop our nets and follow him, he is really asking us to drop something, so we are able to join the adventure of following Him. I encourage you to look at your life today and see if Jesus is asking you to drop something in your life.
