More to the Story

DAY 20 OF 28

The word love can mean a lot of different things. We love our dogs and we love pizza, but do we love them the same way? The idea of love can also get confusing when we talk about sex and relationships. When it comes to our relationships, it can be easy to think that what matters most is what we feel or think about a person.

But in this verse when Jesus commands us to love others He defines love. He doesn’t define love as a feeling, but says that we should love others in the same way He loves us. So, what does that mean? That means loving through actions, showing people the character of God, and putting someone else’s interests above our own. It means we ask what’s best for them. It means we fight the urge to be selfish and instead look for ways to serve.

This week, think about how you view sex and dating. It is selfish? Is it thinking about the other person’s best interest? Ask God to show you how to love like He does in your current or future relationships.

More to the Story

When it comes to things like sex and dating, you probably think you know the whole story. But somewhere in the messages you’re getting from friends, family, significant others, the media you consume, and even at church, the real story on sex and dating has gotten lost. When it comes to sex and dating, God wants more for your story than you know!
