A mind that is confident and at rest
“I want you woven into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God. Then you will have minds confident and at rest, focused on Christ, God’s great mystery.” Colossians 2:2 (MSG)
In this world, we are beset with an onslaught of demands, opposition, judgment, injustice, disconnection, and uncertainty. In a world of increasing mental ill-health, it is so important to have a mind that is confident and at rest. Maybe you’re thinking, how do I do that? How can I have the mind of Christ? The key is to remember and call upon the One who has been commissioned to come alongside you to teach and reveal the things you need to see. That is the Person of the Holy Spirit, who is well able to show you how to live with the mind of Christ. We truly must take time aside to reflect and remember what is important and of value, what to prioritise and what to put down.
In all of this we are exhorted to strive for one thing – to enter His rest.
Hebrews 4:9-11 says,
“So we conclude that there is still a full and complete “rest” waiting for believers to experience. As we enter into God’s faith-rest life we cease from our own works, just as God celebrates his finished works and rests in them. So then we must give our all and be eager to experience this faith-rest life, so that no one falls short by following the same pattern of doubt and unbelief.” (TPT)
A mind that is confident and at rest in Christ is a mind that remembers God’s faithfulness, knows His character, trusts in His Word and His all-sufficient and ever embracing love. From that place of rest, you will become a wellspring of life and refreshment for those around you – a safe harbour and doorway to Jesus.
My prayer is that your mind will become confident and at rest, and that your confidence and rest will become an oasis of hope for others.
