DAY 4 OF 5

Day 4 - Saturation

“Saturation” is the intensity, or richness, of that color.

I love colorful salads. I’m not a huge salad person all of the time. I would much rather have a slice of pizza, but if I am treating my body well then I’ll try to pick the salad more often than not. When I make a salad at home, usually it’s just some greens and dressing—kinda boring. But when I order salad at a restaurant, it comes in like 12 colors! It’s beautiful, and makes me want to eat it. The salads are essentially the same thing, right? Both healthy options, but one is bland, while the other is vibrant, rich, and tasty. My personal preference is the vibrant and colorful salad, and not just because I didn’t have to make it! Ha!

As believers, we want people to be drawn to us, like I’m drawn to a colorful salad. Not in a selfish way, but the hope is that people should want to be around us because we are like Jesus. The Bible talks about producing fruit and that the Holy Spirit produces in us characteristics like: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. If we say we love Jesus, yet we don’t display any of these in our lives, are we really allowing the Holy Spirit to work on us?

I'm not saying we have to be perfect, but as believers we should be growing in our ability to have patience and show kindness. Our whole mission, as followers of Jesus, is to draw others to His throne. If we spend our days talking about all the terrible things happening and never say a positive thing, then we are producing negative and undesirable fruit in our lives. If our fruit is dull and bland, are we even the kind of people that people want to be around? On the contrary, if we focus on kindness and loving others, then people will be drawn to Jesus through us.

The best way to produce the sweet fruits of the spirit are to be in God’s Word. Let that be your truth every day. Then I would encourage you to pray constantly—all of the time. Don’t stop talking to Jesus when your ten-minute quiet time ends; continue to speak to Him throughout your day.

People will be drawn to you by the richness of your fruit. Be a vibrant, colorful salad!

Talk It Over:

  1. What fruits of the spirit do you need to work on developing?
  2. Ask God to help you produce rich fruit.

When I scroll through my phone looking at “perfect” girls, I start thinking of my imperfections and insecurities. Maybe you’re comparing yourself to others too. My song “Photoshop” reminds us that we’re created in God’s image and are His brilliant masterpieces. True "beauty" comes from the inside-out, so let's tackle what it means to be beautiful on the inside and how that shines on the outside! -Leanna Crawford
