DAY 2 OF 4

DIVINE DIALOGUE

God has a divine plan and purpose for your life. Though He may not give you the entire blueprint with every detail of His plan for your life, God is not secretive or manipulative. His Word gives us insight into His ways and our prayer lives provide an opportunity to both speak to and hear from God.

The problem is, our world is anything but quiet. Our lives are loud. The voices in our heads are loud. Our social media timelines are loud and all of the noise makes it incredibly difficult to have a conversation — especially a conversation with a person you can’t even see!

But in a world that is constantly shouting at us, God is continually whispering over us. Why? Because He's close and nothing will change your life like learning to hear His voice above all else.

The all-knowing, all-powerful Creator of the universe cares enough about you to constantly be close to you. His arms and ears are always open for anything you might bring to Him.

But spending time with God involves more than telling Him all of your worries. Talking to God is important and necessary, but sometimes, listening to God is even more important.

Prayer is a dialogue, not a monologue. It's a divine privilege to bring our cares to God, but it's a divine gift to receive words from God.

If you want to get a word from God, you’ve got to be quiet in His presence long enough to listen to what He’s speaking to you. One of the best ways to get into His presence is to get into His Word. You’ll never get filled up with the Holy Spirit if you don’t learn to be still before God. This could look like getting alone in a quiet place with your Bible, a devotional like this one, and a journal and tuning out the world so you can tune into what the God of this universe wants to say to you. This could look like going for a walk in nature with some worship music and asking God to meet you outside, away from the distractions of this world.

However, don’t think God doesn’t care about what you want to say! Jesus once asked a blind man, “What do you want me to do for you?” He asked because He cared!

He cares deeply about what you want, and He wants to give you the desires of your heart, but when your desires come from this world and not Him, He protects you from your own requests.

The more time you spend in His presence though, the more His plan for your life will become your passion — and when you get to a place where your wants align with His will, miracles get set in motion!

Spend some time alone with God today and try to do more listening than talking. Write down what you hear Him whispering to you or what stands out to you as you read His Word. Allow the peace of His presence to wash away the anxieties of this world, and consider your prayer time your daily divine intervention.
