Yes, You Have Spiritual Giftsنموونە
How God Made You
It took me over 30 years to figure out how God made me. You would think that my strengths and weaknesses would be obvious after a few decades of spending every second with myself, but they weren’t. Only after some serious exploration did I discover how my Creator wired me in unique ways.
I’ve learned that I am gifted at learning. Reading a book a week, podcasting hours of sermons a day, and pursuing advanced degrees is easy, fun, and invigorating for me. But solving complex counseling problems and being a shoulder to cry on feels like I’m pitching with the wrong hand. Year by year, I’m learning to look for ways to use my gift while I humbly learn to delegate the tasks that are not my gift.
How about you? You, if the Holy Spirit lives in your heart, are gifted too. Peter writes, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others” (1 Peter 4:10). Each of you. Not some of you or certain folks among you. Each of you. That means you too.
So how did God make you? Think about what comes easily to you, what you tend to do first on your long list of to-dos, what makes people gasp, “I could never do that!” Pray for open eyes to see your gifts. Ask trusted friends where you are gifted (and where you aren’t!).
Then, to thank Jesus for the gifts of grace, mercy, and salvation, use your gifts to serve others.
