Better, Faster, Stronger Faithنموونە
Growing your faith is also about growing your life, your maturity and your trust - it's about becoming better. We believe there is a greater life that God has for us, and as we grow, we start to see the goodness of this greater life more and more .
There is an important part of growing that will help you take the biggest step in your life. To grow up, you need to let go.
Think about your life like this:
To be taken seriously, you have to stop sucking your thumb.
To get good at walking, you've got to get off your knees.
To not be a weirdo, you've got to ditch the imaginary friends.
This is the same for growing up in our faith. We need to let go of heavy things holding us back. If you've ever had to carry something heavy for a long time, you know that it gets harder to keep going the more time you carry it.
What's weighing you down?
Bad decisions, past regrets, the times you've been hurt, the times you have hurt others. We can sum this up as, "We need to let go of the things we've done wrong".
Sin may not weigh us down physically, but it does weigh us down spiritually, and we all know that what happens on the inside, eventually effects us on the outside. So if we know it's bad for us, why do we hold onto sin?
I'd say it's because these mistakes find their place in our lives as excuses, or we don't know where else they can go. When we want to grow and live a better life, a more fulfilled life and a closer relationship with Jesus, we are too weighed down by these things to move forward.
We are carrying things we were not DESIGNED to carry. There is the life we live, surrounded by sin, fulfilling the selfish desires we have; and then there is the life that God has for us, the one that is more fulfilling than anything else. These two voices are always competing for our thoughts and actions. To make things easier we are going to call them the flesh, and the spirit.
See, before Jesus we used to live by the flesh; but that is what we were saved from by Jesus; that's salvation! A new life with Jesus doesn't mean just "polished," we are literally new. The things that hold us back and down don't have a place in our lives anymore. He brings healing to wounds and scars.
We need to LIVE this new life; old mistakes aren't in this new identity. What does that mean for us? It means we can't hold onto the old anymore; no more excuses for our flaws.
Take off the weight of the world, put on the easy burden of growing closer to Jesus. Spend time with Him, time with His word and promises, start living out His purpose for you, and make an actionable difference in the world.
