KEY #4: Your Motives Must Be Pure and Not About Selfish Gain
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. (Matthew 5:8)
When you are in the place of worship, it is important to examine your heart and your motives. Do you desire to release God’s glory on earth so that He can be seen, or do you want to draw attention to yourself? As human beings, we are always looking for connections, and, in many ways, we all want to be seen and noticed. But our motives must be pure. We must desire to be seen only so that Christ can be seen in us.
Rays of Light in Dark Places
The first thing you will sense when you worship at this level is that heaven has started to open, and you awaken to a feeling of connection with God as His presence draws near. You may experience God’s lovingkindness in a new way or sense His grace toward you. You may also become aware of areas in your life that need His healing the most. Little by little, you will see rays of light shining through the cracks in your dark places. If you initially feel uncomfortable, don’t retreat. He is doing a work within you, so press on. The more we open ourselves to God, the more “heart checks” we will experience. He will move the blessings of heaven into the daily reality of our earthly lives as we learn to unlock the doors that have blocked the flow.
When our motives are pure, and we enter God’s presence, we recognize that not only is He ready to bring healing to our lives, but He is also prepared to take on our enemies because the battle belongs to the Lord, not to us. He will place a hedge of protection around us. We must let Him fight our battles for us.
In heaven, there is no sickness or disease, so if we keep pressing into God and drawing near to Him, healing begins to manifest through a miraculous flow of His grace. The healing river of God that is around His throne flows in our midst. Ezekiel, Daniel, and John the Revelator all spoke of that river. (See Daniel 7:9–10; Ezekiel 47:1–12; Revelation 22:1–2.) It is said that wherever the river flows, there is health and healing. You might be in a wilderness situation or in the midst of a dry land, but when the Lord comes in, waters will be released. Open up and let the river flow! The Spirit desires to water your dry places.
Refreshing Waters
When the river of God comes in, the spirit of heaviness is broken, and you can take off your garments of mourning and put on your garments of praise. (See Isaiah 61:3.) Splash around in the river and enjoy the refreshing waters of God’s presence! Your spirit will be energized in that flow, and you will feel like the vibrant spiritual being the Lord created you to be. You will have a new confidence to win souls for Christ, heal the sick, and bring deliverance to those who are oppressed. Remember, this is not about gaining something for yourself, although God wants to bless you. Rather, it is about what you can receive to give to others.
In such times, God releases within you an internal revival, a burning in your heart to know Him more, a deeper love for Him. Simultaneously, He releases a healing anointing. Just as God renews your inner man, He will renew your physical body. You will also experience this renovation in your mind. You will suddenly realize that He has given you knowledge about what He is doing so that you can align yourself with His purposes. He gives new strength to your body and soul, sanctifies your spirit, and provides a fresh infilling of His Spirit. When this happens, you become the house of God, the habitation of His glory, as never before, and you become a carrier of that glory for others wherever you go.
