Made To Shine: Enjoy & Reflect God's Lightنموونە
Inside Out
She was feeling a little blah while routinely applying her same old makeup and said to her reflection in the mirror, “I could really use a makeover.”
She grabbed her purse and her keys and headed out the door to her favorite department store. The woman at the beauty counter did a wonderful job of applying a little bit of blush here and touch of lip gloss there. When she finally snuck a peek at her reflection, she was truly impressed with what she saw in the mirror. But as pretty as it made her feel in the moment, she knew that the results were only temporary.
She needed something more lasting. She needed a change from the inside out.
When John the Baptist was baptizing Jesus in the Jordan River, he said this,
[Jesus’} —aholy baptism by the Holy Spirit—will change you from the inside out (Mark 1:8 The Message).
How revolutionary to know that we already have the Holy Spirit living inside of us and therefor have access to everything that we need to live a fulfilled life. We just have to allow Him to transform us into changed women.
We need to sit down at God’s counter and apply the foundation of His Word first. Then we add in prayer in order to see the reflection that we desire. It’s a daily discipline that only the Holy Spirit can help us achieve. Yes, there will be days when we fail to get it right. But how wonderful it will be when we get to heaven and Jesus holds up a mirror for us to look in. The reflection will be absolutely stunning because it bears His face.
Holy Spirit, come and transform us into women who shine for You. Let us be willing to work on our reflection by reading Your Word and praying daily.
