SE Students - No Matter What - Part 4

DAY 2 OF 4

Have you ever tried listening to a song that is in a language you don’t speak? If you haven’t, go do that immediately when you finish this. It can be tough to enjoy the music because it is impossible to understand the lyrics! But when the words are in the language you understand, music can be the best thing to experience.

Jesus lived a life that, for the disciples, was sometimes like a song in a different language—they could tell it was something beautiful, but they couldn’t always understand the lyrics.

In John 16, Jesus made two statements that changed the music for the disciples to words they could understand.

  1. I came from God to the world.
  2. I am returning to God.

This was so important for Jesus’s friends to hear! Their friend Jesus wasn’t just a nice man who helped people or an inspiring speaker or a powerful healer. He was from God and returning to God, His Father.

Let these words from the Son of God speak to your heart in this moment, loud and clear.

Sometimes we overthink Jesus, faith, and being a Christian. But when Jesus declared He was the Son of God, He was simplifying things for us so that we can believe that His words and His life were from God. How would your next hour change if you lived it knowing the simple truth that Jesus is the Son of God?
