The Holy Spirit in Modern Times
A miracle is a phenomenon, not explained by known laws of nature.
We can be quick to assume miracles no longer happen, or maybe you’re skeptical that they ever happened. But think for a moment how many things you see every day that cannot be explained.
Before Jesus returned to heaven, He told the disciples to go into the world and proclaim the Gospel.
Jesus told them, “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe, will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:15-18).
When we ask Jesus into our lives and receive the Holy Spirit’s power, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead now lives in us. That means every day we walk around with the potential to see a miracle.
Every time someone confesses and believes is a miracle. When you pray for someone and they get better, that’s a miracle. When men and women are freed from addictions, when someone hears God’s voice, those are miracles!
God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The Holy Spirit, who empowered the miracles we read about in the Bible, has not changed. He is still empowering us today!
About this Plan
Who is the Holy Spirit? What’s His role in our lives? For some, the Holy Spirit is a dear friend. For others, He’s a bit of a mystery. For the next seven days, get to know the Holy Spirit and discover why Jesus said it was better for Him to leave, so that the Holy Spirit could come (John 16:7).
