DIY for the Soulنموونە
Think about the people you're closest to. The people you can share anything with. The people with whom you can be completely transparent.
How did that happen? Did you meet at work and become best friends almost overnight? Or did it take years of conversations to become as close as you are today?
There is no right or wrong answer. We grow closer to different people in different ways.
The same thing can be said of our relationship with God. For some people it happens almost overnight. Others may gradually take steps toward God over many years. I think when a lot of people become Christians, they put their faith in Jesus, ask God to forgive their sins, and then they just expect to have a super close relationship with God.
Unfortunately, that isn’t how it works. Just like the relationship we have with our spouse or our closest friends, it takes effort. Growing close to God may happen quickly or it may happen gradually, but it will never happen accidentally.
Do you truly feel close to God right now? If you don’t, the answer is simple and it comes with a promise... “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”
How do you “draw near” to those you are closest to? How can you do that with God today?
