Study and Apply God's Word
Did you know that God communicates with you through the Bible, revealing His character and will? And through the Bible, we can see that it is "profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness"! (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Also, the Bible clearly states that you should apply what the Bible says, not just "hearers of the Word but doers of the Word". (James 1:22-26)
Studying the Bible and applying it is an exciting part of your growth in Christ.
Here's How You Can Do It
Here's a sample on how you can start studying and applying God's Word in your life.
Let's use Psalm 119:9 for starters.
How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Thy Word. Psalm 119:9
Step 1: Observation
Write truths you observe in the passage as well as questions that come to mind.
"The writer explains how to live a pure life. What does it mean to keep one’s way pure?"
Step 2: Interpretation
Write the meaning of the passage and the answers to the questions you asked.
"Reading and obeying the Bible will help me live a pure life. Pure means clean, having no sin, spotless, blameless."
Step 3: Application
Write some specific steps you will take to apply the truth to your own life.
"I want to live a pure life that is pleasing to God. I should take some time to read and study the Bible. I will do it every Saturday from 9am-10am starting this week."
Why don’t we always apply what we learn from the Bible? What is one action you can take this week to start applying the Bible to everyday life?
