10 Scriptures To Help You Stick It Out In Ministryنموونە
I woke up at the sound of the tires screeching. My head hit something hard, and I couldn't think clearly. I was extremely confused. When I looked through the broken window, I saw our ministry partner, Paulino, lying there in the middle of the road. My husband and our driver ran to his lifeless body on the pavement.
We were in a different country on an evangelistic tour, so far away from our home, bringing life and hope to a hurting and lonely world. Only now my world was hurting and lonely. Hope was snatched from us in one moment.
I cannot find the right words to describe the pain, the feeling of loneliness and the frustration that hit me immediately. I didn’t say a word for days. Questions plagued me. Doubts bombarded me. Why did this horrible tragedy happen to us? Weren’t we doing His will? Where was His divine protection that day?
When I started in ministry, I didn’t think I would experience many hard times. I had faith that nothing could break me or make me have doubts. But something did happen and in a second, I was as vulnerable as anyone else. I needed to hear from God. I needed His embrace. I needed His peace. I felt so lost.
Then God brought Isaiah 41:10 to my heart.
This experience made me aware, in a greater degree, that He is with me and only by His power, can I endure the dark times that enter our lives. I had to be honest, accept my pain, face it and start my walk with Him again.
We will have many battles in life. Even in ministry life. We will experience tragedies, fears, pain, and confusion. We will feel like we cannot keep going, but He will renew our strength. There will be moments when we won’t find the right answers, but we will trust God in spite of the doubts. He will lift us up with His strong hand.
It will require patience. But don’t be afraid. Don’t be discouraged. Don’t be dismayed. Through it all God is with you, and He promises to make you stronger as you trust in Him despite your circumstances.
What tragedies or situations have you faced that made you doubt your belief in God? How did you find healing through it?
