God Who Gives Us Success
The healing and restoration was now complete. Both Jacob and Esau were together at the death of their father Isaac. God’s ways are always beautiful and perfect. God does not leave things incomplete. When we live in God’s ways we can be assured that He will bring about complete healing in relationships.
For Isaac, the fact that Jacob had deceived him as well as his brother must have caused a deep pain in his heart. Isaac was already blind at the time when Jacob deceived him. Rebekah seems to have died some time later. Esau’s two Hittite wives brought him unhappiness. Isaac was a blind, lonely, grieving old man. Thus, the last days of Isaac were not a success from human measure. Isaac lived for one hundred and eighty years, but they seem to have been long years of darkness and sadness.
However, God identifies Himself as the God of Isaac. At the very end of his life, Isaac has the joy to know that both his sons have reconciled with each other and were at his bedside, to bid him farewell.
God ways are precious and remarkable. The world’s measure of success is very different. Isaac’s life would never have measured up as a success, from human standards but from God’s measurement, Isaac was a success.
Would you choose to seek God’s measurement of success in your life or is it the worldly success that you are seeking after?
Lord. I only want Your appreciation and approval of my life.
