Faith to Be Debt-Free
I was overwhelmed as I looked at the amount of debt we had accrued. We owed more than twice our annual household income. It seemed impossible that we would ever pay it off. Still, amidst the doubts, I could hear God’s whisper reminding me that we are called to be irrationally generous. And in order to do that, we must be debt-free.
Becoming debt-free seemed impossible, but our God is in the business of doing the impossible. Our job is to obey and trust Him with the result. So, we implemented the strictest budget we could muster for a family of six and began chipping away at the debt. While we could spend above our budget, we chose to walk in obedience. It was hard. We consistently felt the financial strain, but month after month, God provided, taking care of our every need. As we remained faithful to give Him the first 10% of our income and were disciplined stewards with the rest, He multiplied it. What we thought would take a decade to pay off, God paid off in a few short years. Because, our God is able to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
