Intentional Parenting
During these days at home, we're starting every morning with a family devotional. A lot of times as coaches, we're trying to impact 18 to 22 year-olds, and it's amazing to see how different it is to try to influence a 7 or 10-year-old.
So that's really been my change of focus because this will be a real blessing when this unusual time is over. Hopefully, everyone chooses to make the most of this time. We have a great opportunity to impact the young people that maybe we don't always have.
We get to be around for a chance to give them devotionals in the morning when normally they would be going their separate ways. So what I'm hoping and praying for is that we can take advantage of these weeks at home to impact them. I want to be able to look back one day and say that we’ve had an influence and impact on our children that normally we wouldn't be able to.
Normally, you're getting up late, you’re rushing to school or to work. Some people do devotions in the morning before school, or the kids go to a Christian school and get one in the morning. But my prayer is that at the end of however long we're at home, that's what we've been able to do with our kids.
Trying to find different ways to reach them and impact them is an area that I'm focusing on right now. Everyone has different ways to read the Bible and I try to take two chapters a night and go through it. But right now, we can really have an impact on our kids.
With our coaching profession and maybe with some business owners who work 16 or 18 hours a day, our kids don't normally see much of us. They are going to see us more in this short period of time than they would any other time besides the family vacation. What a cool chance to have an impact!

About this Plan
Leading a business and leading a family are two different endeavors. And few people are more susceptible to overlooking the latter in order to pay attention to the former than entrepreneurs. Thankfully, there are those who have gone before us who can guide us on how entrepreneurs can approach relationships.
