Truth and Justice
How do we play our part in giving hope to others and using the power that God has given us?
First, we have to know the truth. Because in order to do what’s right, we have to actually know what’s right. So, where do we turn to learn the truth?
We turn to Jesus. He is the Truth.
The good news is that the truth of who God is and what it means to be His people has been written down and preserved for generations so that even now, 2,000 years later, we can know what’s right. Simply put, you can’t give something you don’t have. In order to give hope to others and use the power of God within us to make a difference, we have to take time to be with God.
Thankfully, you’re doing this right now. Stay engaged with reading the Bible. Do Plans with friends. Make this a daily habit. Because every time you open the Bible, you’re opening yourself up to the truth, hope, and power contained within it.
Second, we have to work for justice. There’s a lot of talk about justice in our world today, so here’s a simple definition for it: Working for justice is doing what’s right and undoing what’s wrong.
Everywhere we look, we can see things that should not be. Brokenness that needs to be fixed. Hurts that need to be healed. Wrongs that need to be made right. As followers of Jesus, we are called to work for justice. To do what’s right and undo what’s wrong.
Know the truth. Work for justice.
This is how we give hope to others. Our power is from God, and it is for the world.
Reflection Questions:
- What would it take for you to make Bible reading a consistent habit?
- What is one injustice in your community that breaks your heart?
- What is one thing you can do to combat that injustice?
About this Plan
How much power is in a blue check, a platinum play button, a stadium chanting and wearing your name? If fame is the power that comes from being known by many, what happens when the All-Powerful and All-Knowing wears your name? Here’s the real question: Do we really believe we have power? If so, what happens when we use our power for the good of others? Hope is power.
